Arfriend is a California public benefit corporation and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  It was created in 2005 in honor of a dear friend — Bart, a Beagle— who always met his friends with a cheerful greeting, a wagging tail and total acceptance.

The organization's purpose is charitable and educational, benefiting both humans and animals.  This is accomplished by raising public awareness about humane welfare issues and by promoting compassion for all living beings.

Arfriend is involved in providing and distributing educational materials regarding animal health, safety, disaster preparedness, spay/neuter information and storm drain pollution/waste disposal solutions; pet loss and grief support; and service animals/animal assisted therapy.

We are located in West Hollywood, California which is an active, thriving and wonderful place to be, save for one very important detail.  It has no animal shelter.  Lost animals are taken to the Los Angeles County animal shelter in Downey, many miles away.  A very important goal for Arfriend is to help facilitate the opening of a West Hollywood Animal Shelter.
